Frequently Asked Questions
What is Fun Translator and what can it do?
Fun Translator is a free AI-powered platform with over 2,000 specialized translators that rewrite English in different styles — from posh and Victorian to medieval knight, hypertranslate, Hollow Knight, and dozens of historical and constructed languages. Paste text, pick a style, and get an instant transformation. No signup required.
Is Fun Translator free to use?
Yes. All translators on the site are free. There is no signup, no daily limit, no watermark on the output, and no paid tier. We may add premium features in the future, but the core translation tools are and will remain free.
How accurate are the translations?
Our translators are tuned to capture the style and tone of the target register while preserving the literal meaning of your input. They are designed for creative use — comedy, character voices, fiction, parody — rather than as professional document translation. For historical and dialect translators (Victorian, Calabrese, etc.), output is a strong starting draft; treat anything for publication as a draft to be reviewed.
Can I create my own custom translator?
Yes. Our Translator Creator tool lets you build a custom translator by specifying the source language, the target style, and any additional context. Once created, your translator gets its own permanent URL and appears in the public catalog.
Is there a limit on text length?
Each translation supports up to roughly 4,000 tokens of output (about 2,500-3,000 English words). For longer documents, break them into paragraphs and translate one at a time — this also produces more consistent style across the piece.
Can I use the translations commercially?
Yes. You retain rights to your input, and the AI-generated output is yours to use in books, scripts, videos, posts, products, or anywhere else. No attribution required.
Are my translations private?
We process translations securely and do not share your text with third parties beyond what is needed for the AI to generate output. We do not publish or sell user inputs. See our privacy policy for full details.
How does the AI translation work?
Each translator runs on a large language model (DeepSeek) with a style-specific prompt. The model is instructed to preserve your meaning while shifting register, vocabulary, and sentence structure to match the target style. Different translators use different prompts, which is why output varies dramatically between, say, Hypertranslate and Victorian English.
Why does the same input give different output each time?
Most translators run at a high creative temperature, which intentionally varies output between runs. This gives you multiple versions to choose from. If you want consistent output, copy the version you like before refreshing or re-translating.
How can I report issues or suggest improvements?
We welcome feedback. You can reach us through the contact page or social channels. Bug reports, style suggestions, and ideas for new translators are all welcome.
